Under The Influence

Influence is the power to move someone's thoughts, emotions and actions. From the beginning, the devil has attempted to influence humanity to do his will. The only person who was never influenced to evil by the devil was Jesus.

The Bible tells us that the world is under the influence of the evil one. When we observe things reported in the world online or in the news it is not hard for us to see that influence. But Jesus overcame the devil through the power of the Holy Spirit. Therefore we must live under the influence of the Holy Spirit to remain free from evil influences.

Through the influence of the devil, people lose control. Under the influence of the Holy Spirit we gain self-control. When the Holy Spirit works self-control in our lives we are free to live as the people that God created us to be.

In the devil's exchange with Adam and Eve, we can learn six strategies that the devil uses to influence us away from God.

The good news is that Jesus remained free from the influence of the evil one and came to set people who were held captive free. In Jesus, we are free to truly live the life God intended for us to live.
