Thank God For Fear
One definition for fear is "a strong dose of respect for something that is life-threatening, dangerous or alarming." When we walk in the appropriate type of fear we will turn away from evil and be spared from the consequences we would have received had we done those things.
Godly fear protects and prepares; it protects us from foolishness and prepares us for a healthy relationship with God. Respect is the foundation of a good and loving relationship. Without it, we could not truly have a lasting relationship with God.
When we have godly fear, we do not need to be controlled by our fear of physical death nor Hell. Although God has both the power and authority to cast body and soul into Hell, He has no desire to do so. Therefore we are not supposed to live our lives controlled by our fears. Instead, we are supposed to respect and love God.
